About Me
My name is Hannah Farmer. My approach to therapy is humanistic and person-centered, meaning I believe that each individual’s natural tendency is toward growth and self-actualization if provided with the right conditions to thrive. I also incorporate principles of cognitive behavioral therapy, existential therapy, and motivational interviewing into my practice. However, research tells us that a strong therapeutic alliance has more of an impact on outcome than any specific model or technique used in therapy. By forming a therapeutic alliance that is characterized by warmth, genuineness, and empathy, a safe environment for self-exploration and discovery is created. My goal as your counselor is to provide you with a non-judgmental environment where your expertise on yourself and your lived experience is honored and where you feel heard, respected, and understood. My role is to hold space and walk alongside you, facilitating a process of reflection that deepens your self-awareness and helps you to identify ways to cope with life's challenges and live as your most authentic self. At the same time, it is essential to me as a practitioner to acknowledge societal and systemic issues that can profoundly affect individual mental health and well-being. I have considerable experience working with people with complex trauma histories and who struggle with depression, anxiety, self-image, and grief and loss. To engage in therapy is to trust another with a window into your innermost life, and I am forever honored and humbled to be entrusted with such a gift. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I earned both my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and my Bachelor of Science in Human Services Counseling from University of Nevada Las Vegas. |
